Biography
Olaf Taranczewski was born in 1977. He started playing the piano at the age of eight. He gave his first piano lessons at the age of 17 and always loved all kinds of blues, jazz and classical music.
From 2000 to 2005 he studied jazz piano at the Musikhochschule Mainz, Germany, followed by another year of composition studies at the Musikhochschule Köln.
In 2003 he recieved the scholarship of Villa Musica / ZIRP for his duo with Oliver Fox, Saxophone.
With his debut album "Alles wird gut", released in 2005, he could prove his skills as the band leader of the Taranczewski Trio. Inspired by Bill Evans, Taranczewski composed ethereal piano music and mixed it up with groovy sounds from his Fender Rhodes. Since his early years as a musician Olaf Taranczewski has been featured by his saxophone partner Oliver Fox, the composer Chris Bremus and producer Laurin Biersack.
In 2003 Olaf Taranczewski made his debut as a film composer, his latest project is the documentary "Anne Perry - Interiors", 2009, directed by Dana Linkiewicz.
In 2009, he won the prize for "best film music" at the festival for German films, Lünen.
Olaf Taranczewski lives and works as film composer and pianist in Berlin.
